VDA 6.3 Audits

Developed by the German Automotive industry, VDA 6.3 defines a process based audit standard for evaluating and improving controls in a manufacturing organization's new product introduction and manufacturing processes. Revised in 2010, the standard was comprehensively restructured to reflect the changes to ISO9001 and customer specific requirements in the automotive industry.

VDA 6.3 is an excellent tool for process audits within the automotive industry. Effective VDA audits will provide significant information for improvement, throughout the entire product realization cycle. It defines the audit process, the criteria for evaluation of the process audit results and the requirements of the processes. Each step in the process is modelled with six links and is governed by Plan Do Check Act.

Some of the Requirements to Pass the VDA 6.3 Audit are:

• TS 16949 or VDA 6.1
• Assessment of product suitability according to Formula Q-capability.
• Internal Audits according to TS 16949, Formula Q-capability.
• Self-assessment at least once annually according to Q-capability with documentation.
• Ensure that all risks in the supply chain are clearly identified and systematic measure will be implemented
• Ongoing Assessment of Suppliers to VDA Requirements.
